The setup wizard
Walk through the six steps of the setup wizard: pages, look, contact details and sample jobs.
The setup wizard gets the board ready in about two minutes. Open it from the setup notice (Run setup wizard) or later from the sidebar of Jobs → Settings, group System → Setup wizard. Only administrators can use it.
Every step has Back, Skip this step and Save and continue. Exit setup in the top bar takes you to the Jobs dashboard.
1. Welcome#
A short overview of the next steps. Click Start setup, or Not now — skip setup to hide the setup notice and keep the defaults.
2. Pages#
The board lives on one WordPress page. Here you can rename the jobs page and change its address (slug). If the page is missing, a ticked box creates it again with [wpjc_jobs] — the button then reads Create page and continue.
The table also lists the addresses that are created automatically under the jobs page:
| Page | What it is |
|---|---|
| All jobs | Every open job with search and filters. |
| Employers | All companies with open jobs. |
| Jobs account | Applications, job alerts, job ads and companies of signed-in users. |
| Post a job | The job ad form in the jobs account. |
| Add a company | The company form in the jobs account. |
?wpjc_view= parameters. Choose any other option in Settings → Permalinks for clean addresses.3. Look#
- Board look — Inside the theme (job pages use the site header and footer) or Standalone portal (own header, footer and styles, like a separate jobs site).
- Board name — empty means “{Site name} Jobs”.
- Accent colour — the theme colour, a preset or a custom colour.
Logo, header style, logo sizes and the hero image are in Jobs → Settings → Look & colours.
4. Contact & job ads#
- Contact e-mail — shown on the board; receives the “waiting for review” e-mails. Pre-filled with the site admin e-mail.
- Contact phone — optional.
- New job ads — Review job ads posted in the jobs account before they go live (recommended). Untick to publish them right away.
- Max listing days — the longest period a user can choose for a job ad (7–120).
5. Sample jobs#
Choose Add sample jobs (5 employers and 12 jobs, some with photos) or Start empty. If sample jobs are already on the site, the step just says so. Click Finish setup.
6. Done#
