Job alerts
Saved searches that e-mail signed-in users new matching jobs right away, daily or weekly.
Job alerts are saved searches for signed-in users. When new jobs match, the user gets an e-mail with the job titles, companies, locations and links.
Creating an alert#
In the jobs account, open Job alerts and click to create one (/jobs/account/alerts/new/). An alert can have:
- a name (empty = its criteria, e.g. “Developer · IT · Berlin”)
- keywords, category, job type, location and remote work
- how often to send: Right away, Once a day or Once a week
An alert without criteria matches all new jobs. Each user can have up to 20 alerts.
Alerts are also created by Follow company on an employer page (right away, for that company) and by the “similar jobs” option on the application form (daily, for the job’s category).
When e-mails go out#
- Right away — about a minute after a matching job is published.
- Once a day — in the daily run at about 07:00 site time, with jobs published since the last e-mail.
- Once a week — in the daily run, every 7 days.
Sending is done by WordPress’s scheduled tasks (WP-Cron). No e-mail is sent when nothing new matches. Sample jobs never trigger alerts.
Changing, pausing and deleting#
Under Job alerts users can edit, pause, switch on again or delete each alert. Every alert e-mail ends with a link to this screen: “Change or stop your alerts”.
