Send breaking news as browser notifications through OneSignal.

Breaking news as browser notifications, sent through OneSignal (free plan available):

  1. Create a OneSignal account and a Web app for your domain.
  2. In News. → Push choose OneSignal and enter the App ID and REST API key (OneSignal → Settings → Keys & IDs).
  3. Choose what is sent: only stories with Send as push notification ticked (recommended), breaking (LIVE ticker) stories, or every new story.

Readers subscribe with the button in the header’s notification panel (or OneSignal’s soft prompt). A story is sent once — headline, dek, picture and link — and the story editor shows when it was sent or why it failed. The OneSignal service worker is served automatically; no file upload is needed.
