FAQ & troubleshooting
Fixes for the problems people hit most — empty front page, missing demo import, ads, paywall, e-mails and more.
The front page is empty#
Import a demo, or add stories and check that the sections’ categories contain posts. Parent categories include their sub-categories.
The demo import button is missing#
Register your licence key under News. → Licence first.
No ads are shown#
Check News. → Ads → Show ad slots. With Google ads on, empty slots stay empty (no demo banners between real ads) — add the ad unit per size. Premium readers and stories with No ads on this story are ad-free. Editors and administrators always see ads.
The paywall button doesn’t lead to a checkout#
Link the plans to WooCommerce products (News. → WooCommerce) or enter checkout links per plan (News. → Premium). WooCommerce must be set to Live (not Coming soon) for visitors to reach the checkout.
Confirmation e-mails don’t arrive#
Many hosts don’t send e-mail reliably. Install an SMTP plugin (e.g. WP Mail SMTP) and connect it to your mail provider.
Readers are logged out / the paywall shows to subscribers#
Your page cache is serving cached pages to signed-in readers. Exclude logged-in users from caching and exclude the Login and My account pages.
SVG logo upload is refused#
Install the free Safe SVG plugin (recommended in News. → Install Plugins).
Push notifications aren’t sent#
The story editor shows the error. Check the App ID and REST API key in News. → Push, and that your site runs on HTTPS.
