There are two ways to build the front page.
There are two ways to build the front page. Use one of them.
Front page blocks (recommended)#
Set a static front page in Settings → Reading and edit it with the block editor. The News. block category contains one block per section: Featured grid, News band, Studio (video & shorts), Showbiz, Sport, Lifestyle, Sci-Tech, Business / sponsored, Newsletter call-to-action, Ad slot, plus Poll, Latest poll, Best reviewed, Trending and Podcast episode. Add, remove and re-order them freely.
- Section: title, categories (sub-categories are included), number of stories and section options — e.g. the Featured grid’s side boxes, the Studio’s LIVE box, the Showbiz subscription card, the Sci-Tech crypto widgets.
- Texts: every label of the section. Leave a field empty to use the default shown in grey; type
-to hide an optional line.
Customizer layout#
If the front page shows your latest posts, the sections come from News. → Front page: switch each section on or off and choose its heading, category and number of stories.
Slider above the front page#
News. → Front page → Slider above the front page takes a Slider Revolution slider alias (e.g. home-slider) or any slider shortcode (Smart Slider, MetaSlider…, e.g. [smartslider3 slider="2"]). It appears above the first section, at page width or edge to edge. Without an active slider plugin nothing is shown to visitors (administrators see a hint).
