Redirects & 404 log
Send old addresses to the right page, find the missing ones visitors still try, and import redirects from other plugins.
Core SEO → Redirects
Add a redirect#
Enter the Old address (/old-page/), the New address (/new-page/ or a full URL) and the type:
| Type | Use for |
|---|---|
| 301 Moved permanently | The default: the page has a new address for good. |
| 302 Found / 307 Temporary redirect | Temporary moves. |
| 410 Gone | Deleted on purpose; search engines drop it faster. |
| 451 Unavailable for legal reasons | Removed for legal reasons. |
Tick Regular expression for patterns, for example ^/blog/(.*) → /news/$1. Query strings such as utm tags are passed on. The list shows hits and the last hit; Test opens the old address.
Automatic redirects#
When the address of a published page, post or category changes, a redirect from the old address is added automatically (on by default, under Settings on this screen).
Import & export#
Import redirects from Yoast SEO Premium, Rank Math or the Redirection plugin in one click, add them from a CSV (old address, new address, type, regex 1/0) or download all as CSV.
404 log#
Core SEO → 404 log lists the addresses people tried that do not exist, most visited first, with where they came from. Redirect fills in the best matching page; check it and save. Bots and scanners are not logged unless you switch that on, and the log keeps the 2000 most recent addresses (adjustable).
