Two ways to build a job portal
A dedicated jobs site. Install the free JobCore board and choose Standalone portal in the setup wizard: the board gets its own modern header, footer and styles with your logo and accent colour — no job board theme needed. Add Looks for a marketplace-style design — navy header, big white search panel, bold find button.
News and jobs together. Publishers use the News. theme for their newsroom and add JobCore as a jobs section. The board picks up the News. header and shares sign-in pages with the rest of the site, so readers and job seekers use one account.
Why a plugin, not a jobs-only theme
Many job board themes bundle the jobs into the theme itself. Change the theme and the board is gone. JobCore keeps your jobs, employers and applications in a plugin — your board survives any redesign, and you can still choose the look you like.
The pages a job portal needs
- Search home with live results and an advanced filter
- Job page with apply form, CV upload and Google Jobs data
- Employer pages with logo, about text and open roles
- Candidate and employer account: applications, alerts, bookmarks, job ads
- Paid packages and promoted listings when you are ready — see charging for job postings
