The jobs account

The front-end account where candidates and employers manage applications, alerts, job ads and companies.

2 min read · Updated October 3, 2026

The jobs account is the private area for signed-in users at /jobs/account/. It is the same for everyone: candidates use it for applications and alerts, employers for companies and job ads.

Signing in#

Guests see “Sign in to your jobs account” with a Sign in button and, when registration is open, Create a free account. With the News. theme the News. sign-in and sign-up pages are used; otherwise the standard WordPress ones.

Sections#

Section What it shows
Overview A greeting, counts (applications, active alerts, live job ads, bookmarks), shortcuts (Find a job, Create a job alert, Post a job or Add your company) and the latest applications.
My applications Jobs the user applied for.
Bookmarks Saved jobs.
Job alerts Create, edit, pause and delete alerts.
My job ads Job ads the user posted, with status and number of applications.
Applications received Applications to the user’s job ads. Shown once the user has job ads.
My companies Company profiles the user owns.

The sidebar also links to Profile and security (the News. account page, or the WordPress profile) and Log out. On phones the menu becomes a dropdown.

Posting a job ad#

  1. Add a company first under My companies.
  2. Click Post a job. Choose the company, enter the title, category, location (or remote) and description. Job type and a photo (JPG, PNG or WebP) are optional.
  3. Choose an “open until” date — from today up to the Max listing days setting. (Not asked when a paid package sets the run time.)
  4. Choose how candidates apply: by e-mail (enter the address) or via a link.
  5. Send it. With review on, the ad waits for review (“Thank you! Your job ad was sent and goes live after a quick review.”); otherwise it is live at once.

Managing job ads#

Each ad in My job ads shows its status — Waiting for review, Live, Filled or Expired — and the number of applications. Actions: view, edit, Mark as filled (candidates can no longer apply), Open for applications again, and delete.

Themes can replace the account page layout by copying templates/page-account.php to wp-job-core/page-account.php in the theme.
