Applications & applying

Each job is applied for in one of two ways, set per job:

• By e-mail — candidates fill in the application form on the job page and it is e-mailed to the job’s apply address.
• External link — the apply button sends candidates to the employer’s own page.

The application form#

• First name, last name, e-mail and phone (all required)
• Cover letter (required), pre-filled with a short template that names the job and your site
• Documents: PDF, DOC or DOCX, up to 3 files and 15 MB in total
• Photo: JPG, PNG or GIF, up to 8 MB

The size limits are never higher than your server’s upload limit. You see the actual limits in Jobs → Settings → System status. The Field Editor add-on can add more fields to the form.

What is sent#

1. The employer gets an e-mail “Application: {job} — {name}” with the candidate’s details, the cover letter and the files attached. Replying goes straight to the candidate.
2. The candidate gets a copy: “Your application: {job}”.

A hidden spam trap on the form filters out most bots.

“Send me similar jobs”#

Signed-in candidates can tick an option on the form to get similar jobs. This creates a daily job alert for the job’s category (or its title when it has no category), unless they already have one.

Applications in the jobs account#

Candidates see their applications under My applications. Employers see every application to their job ads under Applications received. The Jobs dashboard counts Applications sent.

To let employers download CVs and photos from the site, tick CVs and photos in Jobs → Settings → Board. The files are kept in a protected folder and deleted after the number of days you set in Delete files after; the application record stays.

Form messages#

Message	Cause
Please fill in your name, a valid e-mail, your phone number and the cover letter.	A required field is empty or the e-mail is not valid.
Documents must be PDF, DOC or DOCX files …	Wrong file type, too many files or too large in total.
The photo must be a JPG, PNG or GIF file …	Wrong photo type or too large.
The application could not be sent. Please try again.	The e-mail could not be sent and the application was not stored.
